Lauren to perform with Snow White

Lauren Gander was one of more than 150 children who auditioned for a part in Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs at the Marlow Theatre in Canterbury.

The 9 year old, who lives in Wychurst Gardens and attends Netherfield School, shone through and has been chosen to be in the production '“ she will be in over 30 performances including the preview show on November 29 which is a privilege night for exclusive VIPs and Friends Of The Marlowe Theatre. The production runs until January 18.

Mum Linda said: There were 170 children registered for the audition which took place on September 21, and about 24 were chosen. Lauren was over the moon, and when I went in to collect her and complete some paper work, she was absolutely beside herself with excitement, clapping her hands and beaming with a smile from ear to ear. She was told she was extremely strong talented dancer.

"She is in the juvenile ensemble, which basically means she has to dance and sing in a group on stage with Snow White."

There is a photoshoot on Saturday October 4 for the press, then rehearsals start on November 9 and she will be measured for her costume.

Lauren will be performing with well-known Eastenders actress Emma Barton and Stephen Mulhern from Britain's Got Talent, and tubby funnyman Dave Lee.

She is currently rehearsing for Annie at the White Rock Theatre which will be performed during half-term and so she should be finished before the panto rehearsals begin.

At the beginning of next year she begins work on another show to rehearse for in Brighton which is the 70's inspired Disco Inferno.

Lauren was born with Spina Bifida and her parents Linda and Lionel were told she might never walk. She has however become an accomplished dancer and performer and has taken part in fundraising activities for SASBAH, the charity which supports sufferers of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, and recently took part in a sponsored glide at Lewes.
