M23 CRASH: Firefighters cutting out driver trapped by steering wheel

Firefighter are cutting a driver out of a car after it crashed into a barrier on the M23.

Emergency services were called to the scene near its Maidenbower junction at 11.40am today (February 4).

Highways England has closed two southbound lanes between junctions 10 (Copthorne) and 11 (Pease Pottage).

The BBC said a bridge was involved in the collision.

Paramedics reported a driver was trapped by a steering wheel.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters started cutting the person out with heavy rescue equipment at 12.30pm.

Police were in attendance.
