From Monday (March 9) at junction 9 (Gatwick) there will be lane closures in place on the coastbound carriageway overnight, between 8pm and 6am, with one lane remaining open and a 50mph speed limit restriction.

Work will be carried out each night and is due to be complete at the beginning of April.

Also around junction 9 (Horley) there will be resurfacing/reinstatement of markings and studs.

This will mean lane closures and a 50mph speed limit in both directions overnight, between 10pm and 5am, each night until April. Work on weekdays will be between 10pm and 5am.

The Highways Agency says for the safety of road workers and all road users, when you are approaching roadworks:

Keep within the speed limit – it is there for your safety.

Get into the correct lane in good time – don’t keep switching.

Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks.

Be alert for works’ traffic leaving or entering roadworks.

Keep a safe distance – there could be queues in front.

Observe all signs – they are there to help you.
