The girl was walking along Clun Road, on her way home from school at around 3pm on Friday, February 24, when a man with a green Mohican hairstyle tried to entice her into his red car.

She immediately raised the alarm at the nearby Wickbourne Centre.

Police have asked parents to continue to advise children about being approached by strangers and schools in the area have made a similar plea in letters to parents.

Specialist officers at the Sussex Police intelligence bureau in Brighton have been helping officers working on the case by analysing the man's distinctive description and developing an offender profile.
