Man dies after serious fire breaks out at home in Horsham

An elderly man died after a fire at a house in Horsham last night (Monday, January 11), police have said.

According to Sussex Police, patrolling officers saw a house on fire in Bishopric, Horsham, at 7.30pm.

A spokesperson said: "An elderly man who was living there has sadly been confirmed deceased at the scene.

"Another elderly man found at the address is being treated at hospital for some burn injuries to his hands and smoke inhalation but his condition is not assessed as life threatening.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service posted on social media last night, asking residents to avoid the area 'while the fire is brought under control'.
