Man receives head injury in West Parade attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted, and received what police describe as, 'a serious head injury', in an incident which took place at West Parade in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A police spokesperson said they responded to a call which was received at 4.20 am, shortly after the attack took place, and describe it as being, "a particularly nasty incident", in which the person concerned sustained head injuries, believed to have been received from blows by an instrument of some description.

The injured person was treated in hospital and has since been released.

Police are unable to give further details at this time as the matter is still under police investigation.
