The PrudentialRide London-Surrey 100 and PrudentialRide London-Surrey Classic events are being held on Sunday and will impact on traffic just across the county border.

Road closures will be in place in towns, villages and areas such as Abinger Hammer, Holmbury St Mary, Forest Green, Leith Hill, Westcott, Coldharbour, Dorking, Box Hill Village, Ranmore Common and Leatherhead.

Thousands of cyclists will be taking part, many from the Horsham district, raising funds for a variety of charities.

Temporary rolling road closures will be used for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic wherever possible in Surrey to reduce the impact of road closures on residents and businesses.

Once the last cyclist in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 has passed over Hampton Court Bridge, roads will begin to reopen, through to Forest Green.

Later in the afternoon, reopened sections of the route being used for the Prudential RideLondonSurrey Classic professional race will be managed by rolling road closures.

This involves using a motorcycle escort team to temporarily hold traffic while the race passes.

This reduces the impact of road closures on residents and businesses.

On the rest of the roads used for the event route, it will not be possible to operate rolling road closures due to event timings and these roads will remain closed for the entire event period, with roads reopening as soon as it is safe to do so, after the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic race has passed through.

Developed by the Mayor of London and his agencies in 2013, Prudential RideLondon is a world-class festival of cycling.

Taking a cue from the London Marathon, amateur cyclists also participate in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 – a 100-mile challenge on the same closed roads as the professionals, with the added incentive of raising money for good causes.

For the first time, the event will also feature the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 – a 46-mile sportive created specifically for newer and also younger cyclists.
