Meet Rother's new police chief

ROTHER gets a new police commander on Wednesday once Chief Inspector Heather Keating leaves to take up a new role at Sussex Police headquarters in Lewes. Her successor is Chief Inspector Trevor Botting (pictured).

He said: “I am delighted and really looking forward to taking up my new role.

“It is a real privilege and I am looking forward to getting out and about to meet the communities across Rother and learn what concerns they have about local policing.

“I am inheriting a strong team of staff and police officers, some of whom I have already met and others who I am looking forward to getting to know over the next few months.

“I am local to the district and it is great to be given the opportunity to oversee the policing of an area that I know and love.”

Ch Insp Botting has been a serving officer with Sussex Police for 27 years.

In the early part of his career he worked in neighbourhood policing and traffic.

Since 2007, he has been working as a chief inspector in Operations at Sussex Police HQ in Lewes, managing the Tactical Firearms and Dog units.
