Mum juggling work and family life to train for epic cycle

A mother is juggling training for a 350km charity bike ride with a full time job and family life.

The 52-year-old mother-of-one aims to raise at least £3,100 in aid of Genesis Research Trust, a cause close to her heart.

Kristine Pollock, 52, of Maidenbower, a HR director at highways maintenance company Eurovia, will join 65 women who will take on the five-day challenge in Kerala, India, in October.

Kristine, whose son is 13, said her biggest difficulty was fitting her training in with a job that had variable hours and spending time with her son and partner.

She said she trained on a standing bike in the evenings and went out on long weekend rides.

Genesis Research Trust works to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of conditions which cause miscarriage, genetic diseases, infertility and cancer.

Kristine said she knew family and friends who had had multiple miscarriages and thanked those who had donated to her cause.
