A new bus link will run between West Green and Langley Green three days per week to help people get to a doctors’ surgery.

From May 30, Metrobus routes 801 and 802 will have revised timetables which will provide four return services between West Green and Langley Green on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Changes were made after residents raised concerns about the closure of the doctors’ surgery in West Green, with residents being moved to Leacroft Surgery in Langley Green.

Currently there is no direct bus service between the two neighbourhoods so a request was made to Metrobus to see if they could find a way of providing a link, even if it was only a few times a week.

Older persons and disabled concessionary passes will be accepted on routes 801 and 802.

Crawley Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Peter Smith, said: “I am pleased to see that Metrobus have been able to work with us to deliver improvements to what is already a great service in Crawley.

“When the West Green surgery closed we committed to try to get a proper bus service to their new surgery in Langley Green and now we have been able to deliver on this promise.”

Councillor Bill Ward, who represents West Green, said: “It’s great that Metrobus has taken on board their customers’ comments and improved this service for residents in West Green.”

“I have no doubt that it will make a huge difference to those who need it.”
