The shop, in Sackville Road, aims to raise funds towards a new rehabilitation centre to be built in the region.

It was opened by Reverend David Frost of Bexhill Churches Together.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon attended later in the day.

Derek and Muriel Peterson opened the shop to help with their charity work.

Derek said: "When we came back from India we realised we needed to do something to raise the money.

"Originally we didn't have the cash, but thanks to several generous donations we were able to look for a shop."

All the items in the Hope Foundation Trust shop have been donated to the charity.
