New exhibitors and quality entries despite weather

DROUGHT and heavy rain impacted on vegetables and flowers displayed at Beeding & Bramber Horticultural Society's recent successful show, but new competitors took part, winning some of the cups which were presented by Charles Parsons, society vice presiden.

Society chairman, David Wells, won the Fun cup for the most points in flowers and vegetables, the Committee Cup for most points in flowers and the Adurvale Cup for runner-up in vegetables.

Other cup winners were: Charles Ashby: Ansdall Challenge Cup for gaining the most points in the show and Beeding Court Cup for runner up in flowers, Hobjoin Cup for the best dahlia, Harry Phillips Memorial Shield for the most points in classes 92 and 93, and silver and bronze certificates from the National Dahlia Society; Alasdair MacCulloch:Phillips Cup for the best entry in flowers and vegetables, RHS Banksian medal for Horticultural Classes, Avon Cup for gladioli and Towers Cup for most points Section 2; Jeff Dunstone: Bert Harman Cup for single asters.
