Lexi was discovered suffering in a poor state in 2012 among a group of ponies all severely neglected.

She was taken to the equine charity World Horse Welfare’s Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre where she underwent rehabilitation, including physiotherapy work to help build her strength.

Following amazing progress, Lexi was re-homed with Horsham resident Jackie Dunne and has since gone from strength to strength.

Jackie said she knew she wanted to rehome from World Horse Welfare and had been looking for a while when Lexi became available. She said: “Apart from being a stunning pony and her description fitting exactly what I was looking for I also knew that she’d have had the best of training and veterinary/physio assessments and I felt it would be very rewarding to give her a home after she’d had such a rough start in life.

“She’s had a very easy year as I had to have a huge op to remove part of my kidney but am getting back to riding now and can’t wait to take her out to do some training and we have an adult camp coming up.

“Lexi was initially a little unsettled when she arrived so we had a lot of time getting to know each other which has really paid off now and she has developed a deep trust – loving nothing more than a nice bath and groom!

“Lexi has proved to be a very bold pony out hacking and has been known to give her ‘nanny’ a lead past scary dogs/cement mixers and balloons and is now hacking alone. She’s progressed really well with her schooling and we are taking part in an adult riding camp this summer plus some dressage competitions.

“She is a fantastic family pony and whinnies to my daughter when she sees her as she knows that means lots of cuddles and neck scratches! We absolutely love her cheeky personality and it’s been so incredible to see her confidence develop as she builds up her partnership with us.

“If I had one word of advice it would be always visit the website/rehoming centre when looking for a new pony. World Horse Welfare are a fantastic charity and you can rest assured that you will get a pony suitable for the purpose it has been assessed for with a totally honest description.”

World Horse Welfare marked another record-breaking year for rehoming in 2015, with 320 horses and ponies finding loving new homes across the country.
