BBC gameshow host Richard Osman, known best for his work on quiz show Pointless, has tweeted his disgust at the new footbridge, built as part of a multi-million project at Haywards Heath station.

The presenter, who has also appeared on Have I Got News For You and QI, said: “Bad news if you’re hoping to win the ‘World’s Ugliest New Footbridge’ award. Haywards Heath station has surely won.”

Solum Regeneration, a partnership between Network Rail and Kier, is currently undertaking a £35 million regeneration project at the Hayward Heath Station Quarter.

The scheme has already seen a new multi-storey car park built with a new Waitrose supermarket under construction.

The bridge connects the new car park to the station and was opened in May.
