New owner's plans for hotel

THE new owner of Shelleys Hotel says it will stick with the current management and staff following its recent sale.

Millennium Leisure, which completed the purchase of the hotel on April 12, has pledged to work with the 'established team' at Shelleys.

The company has refused to disclose how much it paid for the 16th century building and business but the Express understands it would have been in the region of 3.5million.

A statement from new owner Millennium Leisure said it would try to retain the character of the hotel.

A spokesman said: 'The company takes an interest, and has had considerable success in the sensitive restoration of historic buildings, and some refurbishment has already started at Shelleys with the redecoration of the dining Room, lounge and drawing room.

'The co-directors of Millennium Leisure are looking forward to developing the business at Shelleys with the established team at the hotel.'
