Proposals are expected to be unveiled by Swan Walk shopping centre outlining the part-redevelopment of the centre with a new area which will play host to new shops, restaurants and a multi-screen cinema.

Swan Walk said it was planning to remodel the western-end of the shopping centre to bring about the project.

As well as the cinema the proposals also outline the creation of a family dining area with four restaurants and a large new retail store.

The new proposals are set to bring 100 new jobs and the centre said it hoped it would all be created by 2019.

A two-day exhibition is due to be held in unit 29 in Swan Walk, in the empty shop between the The Body Shop and Clintons, on Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19, outlining the plans and explaining what the future could hold for the area.

Gill Buchanan, Swan Walk centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be launching our proposals for Swan Walk and hear what our customers have to say about them.

“These plans will rejuvenate the western-end of Swan Walk and will represent a significant investment in the town centre.

“We look forward to welcoming as many people as possible at the exhibition.”

The exhibition will be open from 11am until 4pm on the Friday and from 10am until 3pm on the Saturday.

Members of the public will be able to view and comment on the plans and representatives from the Swan Walk design team will also be on hand to answer questions.

The new proposals will add to what has already been a busy couple of years for the centre.

Last year Swan Walk celebrated its 40th anniversary and also announced it would be welcoming a new national clothing retailer as part of a major redevelopment.

It also played host to the town’s Elephantastic display and saw several new retailers including La Vida Boutique and Cocoa Loco move in.

Aviva Life and Pensions UK Limited is the owner of Swan Walk which is managed on its behalf by Aviva Investors.

The town centre is also set to see some big changes after national retailer Beales announced it would be shutting its Horsham store.
