Officers tackle fire for more than two hours at South Harting

FIRE crews from across Chichester, Bognor Regis and Hampshire battled for more than two hours to extinguish a house fire at South Harting near Midhurst this afternoon (Saturday).

Several appliances attended the two-storey property in North Lane, which suffered significant smoke damage to its lower and upper floors.

Officers used specialist breathing apparatus to enter the home and two hose reels were used to tackle the fire, which started at around 1.30pm. It was put out by 3.50pm. According to fire services, there was no-one present in the residence at the time of the incident. Its cause is still being investigated.
