An Ofsted report has praised the “dedicated” staff who run a pre-school in Copthorne.
The Jack And Jill Pre-School, in Copthorne Bank, was visited by Ofsted inspector Rebecca Khabbazi on May 6 and her findings were published on Thursday (May 28).
The pre-school received ‘good’ ratings across the board in its first inspection since 2011.
Ms Khabbazi described staff as running a “friendly, welcoming and inclusive” environment for the 20 children, providing a good variety of resources and activities to help them learn and play.
As a result, the children were seen to “quickly grow in confidence and independence” while making good progress in their learning.
Ms Khabbazi highlighted two areas which she said needed to be addressed for the pre-school to be judged ‘outstanding’.
The first was the need to make use of all their resources to ensure the younger children got the most out of group activities and to stop them from losing interest.
The second was for staff to find more opportunities to watch and learn from each other.
These points aside, Jack And Jill Pre-School received a very positive report, which was supported by parents.
During her inspection, Ms Khabbazi spoke to parents about the performance of the pre-school.
Her report stated: “Comments from parents show that they value the pre-school highly. They appreciate the dedicated staff team and feel their child is safe and well-cared for.”
