Opera firm favourites

Songs and duets from the Savoy Operas come to life in an entertainment by two of the stars from the D’Oyly Carte Opera, at St Mary’s House, Bramber, on Saturday, November 12.

House administrator Alan Durden said: “We will be entertained with firm favourites from Patience, The Gondoliers, HMS Pinafore, Princess Ida, Ruddigore, The Mikado, and other delights. The old familiars – Bunthorne, Ko-Ko, the Modern Major-General and many other inimitable characters – make a welcome return in this brilliant evening by two of the most dynamic performers of the genre.

“In the art of verbal dexterity, Richard Suart (baritone) is unsurpassed in the world as an interpreter of the famous patter songs. But we will also be entertained with plenty of sweet sentiment and charm by Jill Pert (contralto), who has been the star of countless D’Oyly Carte performances and has sung many of the title roles around the world.
