Get involved in Chestnut Tree House Business Awards

The awards recognise and celebrate the many Sussex businesses and their employees who support us.

Hundreds of businesses have raised thousands of pounds to help us run the only children’s hospice in the county over the past 11 years and we want to thank them and give something back.

So, we are inviting businesses to nominate themselves or name individuals in their organisations who have put in extraordinary effort to raise funds to help us.

As I’ve said in this column many times before, it costs a £6,850 per day to provide all our care services for children with life-shortening illnesses and their families.

We are caring for more children than ever before and care costs are increasing. We receive less than 8% of our funding from central government, and so are almost entirely dependent on the generosity of local businesses and individuals across Sussex to support us and help cover our costs.

The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 12 March, with categories including Fundraising Team of the Year, Most Innovative Fundraising Idea and Outstanding Voluntary Project.

Nominations will be judged by an expert panel, including Hugh Lowson, Chief Executive of Chestnut Tree House, Gary Shipton, Editor in Chief of the West Sussex Gazette, Poppy Szkiler, founder and managing director of Quiet Mark, and Lisa Bradley, Founder and Managing Director of Pegasus.

Chestnut Tree House, in Dover Lane, Arundel, cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions.
