Youth Group a big success

There are always fun things happening at Chestnut Tree House with lots of activities for the children to enjoy.

We also have to be creative with things for the older children to experience.

There is a limit to what some of them may be able to access in the bigger world, but with the use of special equipment we can enable children and young people to do more than they might ordinarily be able to.

We have run a Youth Group at Chestnut Tree House for many years and it is always very popular.

Sometimes the young people make the most of the facilities at the House, such as our hydrotherapy pool, and on other occasions we take them out to fun places across the county – such as going bowling, having a pizza or a trip to the cinema.

We always listen to the young people and fulfil their wishes whenever possible, especially if there is something they have always wanted to do, or somewhere they would like to visit.

Parents have reported that even children with limited communication skills let them know what a great time they have had.

Part of what makes the Youth Group such a success are our Buddies – able young people who we train to act as companions to our young people. If you are aged over 15 and interested in finding out more about the Buddy Scheme please contact Trish Cullingford, our Fun and Friendship Coordinator at Chestnut Tree House on 01903 871800.

Chestnut Tree House, in Dover Lane, Arundel, cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions.
