Another slump in public service

AS A reasonably fit 70-year-old, I decided to walk to the post office in Littlehampton, just for fun, you understand, as it will soon be my nearest one.

My route was via Mewsbrook Park, Berry Lane, Church Street, Beach Road and Arcade Road.

The conditions were dry and sunny, with a strong westerly wind.

I took 24 minutes and 8 seconds to cover the 1.213 miles.

Bearing in mind that I also had to return home, it is a journey that I will not undertake too often.

Thank you, Post Office, for proving to me that public service is now at the bottom of your list.
