It would now appear that the status quo that has existed for many years is under threat and will possibly have a serious and adverse impact on the function and appeal of the Town Hall as a venue. This will therefore affect town income and finances.

As you are aware, Arundel tries its best to attract and cater for every type of visitor, while trying to attract and promote commerce in the area for everyone’s benefit.

With limited funds and ever increasing demands, Arundel Town Council does an amazing job of supporting and providing for the local community and residents.

The substantial income from various functions and events at the Town Hall is vital and helps offset local community charges, as well as making the town more attractive to potential clients and customers.

To sell off the parking spaces would seriously compromise the attractiveness and appeal of the Town Hall as a venue.

There is already too little designated space where exhibitors, visitors, wedding planners and functions can load and unload, so if we lose parking spaces there, people will not be able to use the Town Hall and it will seriously detract from its appeal.

On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, I would ask Arun District to review its commercial desires over these disputed spaces and be magnanimous enough to allow them to remain under the control of our council.
