Christmas all year round

YOUR correspondents recently moaning about various local establishments displaying Christmas wares in September should be glad we haven't (as yet) gone the American way.

In Florida in September, my wife was able to wander around a store devoted entirely to Christmas decorations and associated artefacts at 11.30 on a Saturday night.

This store, one of a chain, was open 12 months of the year and sold no other seasonal goods.

Obviously, the Americans spend all 12 months of the year thinking about Christmas.
