Council should consult on centre

I am shocked to learn that Rother District Council’s Cabinet are planning to withdraw funding to Rye Sports Centre. I understand that some of its income comes from other sources, but surely they must see that any centre that loses this level of funding will become financially unsustainable.

Like Sarah Owen, who is standing for parliament for Labour this year, I want RDC to give Rye residents a say on this important matter. Why haven’t they so far?

I was on the fundraising committee that originally raised money for the swimming pool and it saddens me that the centre and pool are now under threat. So, I hope the council will come clean and allow us residents to have a proper input into this decision.
