Don’t blame us

As responsible dog owners we were distressed to read articles in Ferring Parish Council’s ‘The Parish Flyer’ and the ‘All About Ferring’ publication concerning the possibility of banning dogs from Ferring beach.

Whilst we appreciate the hazards of dog mess and the fact that not everyone loves our four-legged friends, we feel sure that most local dog owners do ‘pick up’.

It is very much the weekenders and visitors to our perfect little haven who are mostly responsible for not doing so. We have seen it happen and have indeed offered poo bags to the culprits.

We have lived in Ferring for almost nine years and feel so much joy in taking our Jack Russell to the beach where he has the time of his life running free and playing with other dogs.

There are many dog owners in Ferring. Please do not punish us all, the residents, for the selfish behaviour of visitors.

The council office has encouraged us to contact the Arun District Council dog warden ([email protected]) with our concern and sympathisers are requested to do likewise.
