Eco-Towns are a done deal

IT became clear at last week's meeting of the Arun District Council cabinet regarding the proposals for an Eco-Town at Ford that consultation will be sought in a similar manner to that which has resulted in the imminent closure of the Beach Post Office.

It appears that the government has made up its mind that Eco-Towns are going to happen, no matter what.

The current infrastructure cannot support the present population, let alone the additional burden of that of an Eco-Town. We desperately need to have improvements to our road system, apart from anything else. However, it cannot be right that the price of having these essential improvements is to have an Eco-Town that will put us back to where we would be without having any improvements.

To do nothing is not an option, for not to have any improvements at all is just unsustainable... even for an Eco-Town!"
