Face masks: what happened to our common sense?

The latest advice from the WHO to wear a mask in all public places may be appropriate for city streets, subways and parks but it is wholly inappropriate for country areas.

Demanding individuals wear a mask when they walk in fields and woods, along footpaths or in National Trust parks, when one can often not see another person, will only result in resentment or refusal to comply and encourage people to ignore other laws which may be helpful.

A blanket imposition of constraints without regard to relevant risk will not help society rebuild a new normality.
