Failure of street lights - no one will take any responsibility

TRAVELLING along the A259 from east or west, as you approach the Toddington Lane development, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are plunged into total darkness by the failure of the street lighting at the point where the road was widened.

This is due to an ongoing failure by the developers, power company EDF and the inability of West Sussex County Council to resolve the situation.

We have called and reported this failure numerous times and get the same response from the county council, it's not their fault but the developers and EDF, who are failing in their contracts.

Generators are in position to light one side of the road, but the residents of the site complain about the noise, so these are switched off.

We are waiting for the inevitable accident to happen. Then, perhaps, we will get the lighting installed correctly.

D. Thomas,

Oakcroft Gardens,

Littlehampton
