Three cheers for the Sussex Express for printing an article about Extinction Rebellion’s celebration of World Oceans Day, drawing attention to the link between a healthy ocean and a green recovery!

However, what was missed was reference to the restoration of kelp forests, an exciting project that will provide habitats for young fish and other sea creatures while absorbing huge amounts of carbon.

Extinction Rebellion is often accused of being doom mongers because we tell the truth about the climate emergency and demand our government do so too.

This project, details of which can be found on the Sussex Wildlife Trust’s website, is a very positive way in which we can all do something about the climate and environment. Find out about the Help our Kelp project and then write to your MP to ensure the new byelaw that has been agreed by the fishing industry (IFCA) is signed off by the secretary of state for DEFRA.

It’s not often that a project that will have so many benefits for people and the planet has the agreement of so many. Let’s ensure that this one doesn’t fall through the net!
