God, or money?

I’m concerned that Arun District Council’s local plan for 2011-31 quotes the housing allocation for Barnham, Eastergate and Westergate as ‘at least 2,000 homes’ and the masterplan produced by the Church Commissioners (as landowners) and their associates proposes ‘approximately 3,000 homes’.

I am reminded of Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Will the Church Commissioners please explain why they have produced a proposal for substantially more houses than the local plan allocation?

In particular, have they been ‘encouraged’ in any way to do this by Arun?
