Hands off, Arun!

ALL those Arundel Museum Society members who have worked tirelessly on Arundel’s Heritage Centre project rightly deserve our praise and thanks (Paul Dendle, Gazette letters, April 7).

Also worthy of recognition are the councillors – some of whom shortly retire from Arundel Town Council – who supported the project.

These same councillors were also active in Arundel Town Council’s campaign to retain its ownership of the historic Arundel Town Hall in the face of Arun District Council’s bid, fortunately unsuccessful, to take over this piece of Arundel’s heritage – a bid which was never publicly condemned by Arun District councillors.

Arundel Town Council faces new challenges in the year ahead and this time, local residents will be expecting their district councillors to be publicly supportive of the town in fending off any new attempts to grab Arundel’s assets.
