LETTER: Help homeless

As one of the UK's largest homelessness charities, we want to thank your readers for their involvement and helping raise £18,500 so far for people who are homeless by simply putting on their favourite hat, making a donation and helping change someone's life.

St Mungo’s Woolly Hat Day took place on Friday 27 January and thousands of people donned beanies, baseball caps and berets and more to help us raise vital funds for our work.

Our St Mungo’s vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. We provide a bed and support to more than 2,500 people a night who are either homeless or at risk, and work to prevent homelessness.

We support men and women through more than 250 projects including emergency, hostel and supportive housing projects, advice services, specialist physical health, mental health and skills and work services. We believe in our clients’ potential. We are committed to every individual’s sustainable recovery.

The money raised helps make a real difference to our services such as helping people off the streets. Across the country, for example, people used our unique hat cupcake recipe to bake cakes for us in schools, offices and in their homes at hat parties.

As a homeless charity, our clients are at the heart of what we do.

By putting on a hat for Woolly Hat Day you helped homeless people get ahead.
