He appears to have conveniently forgotten his own formal submission to the ‘2011 to 2026 West Sussex Transport Plan review’ in 2010.

Here’s some of what he submitted, in his own words: ‘What must be done is to make it easier and more attractive for people to choose the bus, to walk or to cycle over the private car. This needs to be done by making car travel less convenient and more expensive while making sustainable modes more convenient and cheaper. What is needed is for WSCC to include specific policies: More car parking charges - less parking spaces - charge for workplace parking.’

Cllr Peter Smith is Crawley Labour’s Cabinet Member for Planning and it’s becoming clear that parking difficulties in Ifield throughout Crawley will not improve while he has any say in the matter.

Councillor Martin Stone, Crawley Borough Council (Con, Ifield).
