LETTER: Rethink the whole project

I have no idea what cloud Cllr Smith is on but if he thinks that new paving and some lights are going to revitalise the town centre I feel he is very much mistaken.

The town has been allowed to decline and die due to lack of interest from property owners and local authority for years plus the addition of the eyesore that once housed a small ice cream outlet.

What was once a lively shopping centre is now overrun by charity outlets, pound stores, overpriced coffee shops and short term lets selling cheap tat all of which do very little to enhance the feeling of a nice place to shop.

I would suggest rather them waste £3.5 million pounds of tax payers money on new paving and some lights the council take a real look at the layout and rethink the whole project maybe then we will have a town centre to be proud of again.
