Just who will foot the bill for this? Let me guess, of course, us, the tax payer. This follows a long and in-depth study by the former Airport’s Commission which cost the taxpayer several millions of pounds. Gatwick’s owners will not rest until they get permission to destroy so much heritage of our part of Sussex, and once they have it will do exactly the same as they did at London City Airport, sell at a massive profit and walk away.

Its about time the study turned to maximising the use of other airports such as Stansted running at under fifty per cent, utilising airports such as Manchester etc so to cut the many thousands and thousands of people having to travel long distances to get to Gatwick clogging up the motorways to go on holiday. There’s many more ways to cope with airport demand and expansion than to destroy this part of the south east.
