No truth in bus cut rumours

I understand that a strong rumour is being circulated that the county council funding for the Battle Community Bus is to be cut, resulting in considerable alarm amongst its users.

I would like to take this opportunity to reassure all Observer readers who use this invaluable service that there is no truth whatsoever in these rumours.

As with all local government expenditure the funding and contracts are subject to periodic review and this service was considered last winter.

The Lib Dem group amongst others made very strong representations that community bus services should continue to receive support and in April Battle Community Transport received confirmation of its funding for what is expected to be at least a five year period.

There should therefore be no change to the existing service.

I hope this will allay the fear of your readers.
