Passer-by who does not smell all that sweet

I AM a regular reader of the Littlehampton Gazette and I am always heartened by the reports of volunteering in Littlehampton.

I am a volunteer with the Scope charity shop in the High Street, raising money for people with cerebral palsy.

The shop relies heavily on contributions from the public and they are very generous.

However, on Saturday, March 8, we had put out a Jade Goody gift set, which comprised perfume, shower gel and body lotion.

This had been generously donated.

During the morning, someone stole the perfume.

This meant we could no longer sell the set.

This was a mean and despicable act which angered and saddened all the staff, both paid and voluntary.

The majority of people in Littlehampton are caring and helpful to those who have more difficulties than they have.

The money we raise goes not only to people who have cerebral palsy, but also to support their carers, and towards research, to help their qualify of life.

I would say to that person, real life is not only about taking, but also about giving.

On behalf of the volunteers and staff at Scope, Littlehampton.
