Perhaps a bridge too complicated

R. W. STANDING (Gazette letters, November 6) talks of the practicality of a telescopic bridge across the mouth of the River Arun at Littlehampton, but is it practical, with the number of yachts now in the harbour and the larger yachts that visit?

I do not think it is as straightforward as might be thought, when one takes into consideration all that is involved in the construction of such a bridge, along with the length of time it would have to be open around high tide.
