Tesco plans could ruin peaceful village

WE WERE surprised and dismayed that Tesco wants to open a store in our village, having made a licensing application (see story, page 3).

Rustington is a large village with a low crime rate.

Opening a store selling alcohol until 11pm, seven days a week, is the last thing we want.

The Methodist Church on the opposite corner of Claigmar Road has a large garden, which is a feature of the village.

We anticipate that those drinking late at night will be attracted to the gardens.

Who is going to pay for any vandalism or damage incurred?

We are a nation with a drink problem in young people.

Why encourage drinking on our streets by letting this application go ahead?

The peaceful nature of this village could easily be spoilt by a few noisy drinkers, encouraged by the late opening of this store.
