The next time it might be a child

ON Friday last week, I left home to pick my daughter up from school and my cat Sammy was sitting on our drive, washing herself.

She does not go far and is quite old.

My son heard a lot of disturbance outside my house, went to look and discovered that Sammy was badly injured.

When I arrived home five minutes later, I had to rush her to the vet's, where they confirmed she had been attacked by a dog.

She was in hospital at Chichester for four or five days and my main concern is that if a dog can do this to a cat, it can do it to a child, and where we live there are a lot of children who play in our park.

I hope the owner has a guilty conscience and realises the implications.

Hopefully, Sammy will be OK and it will not be a child next time.
