What fun was had by all

WHAT a splendid weekend this has been for the people of Littlehampton.

Firstly, Friday evening '“ the Last Night of the Proms with the Littlehampton Concert Band at the Windmill Theatre.

The band played all the Proms favourites, and also a fine selection of music based on the Olympic theme, playing with relish under the baton of their brilliant young musical director, Bob Haselip, who pushes the band to greater musical achievements every year.

Saturday afternoon '“ Littlehampton Town Show and Family Day.

What an absolutely brilliant afternoon for all the family.

This was a real community show, with many local organisations being showcased by their hard-working volunteers.

These are the people who keep Littlehampton ticking throughout the year.

The afternoon was held together by the deputy mayor, Mark Butler, who compred the show in his own inimitable style.

It is great to see the town council continues to invest in a REAL community project.

And, finally, Saturday evening '“ the Edwin James Festival Choir celebrated its 10th anniversary at St James' Church with a concert "Memories of the Musicals".

What a WOW of a show!

The musical director, James Rushman and the choreographer, Chris Allen, brought together all our talented local singers for a real musical feast.

We in Littlehampton are so lucky to have so many hard-working people in our community, most of them giving their time freely for the benefit of us all.

Many thanks must go to all who gave up their weekend for the benefit of others.

For those of you who moan and groan about Littlehampton, I suggest that perhaps it is time that you put something back into the community.

There are plenty of organisations who would welcome any offer of help, no matter how small.

I really feel proud to be a resident of Littlehampton.

Let's talk the town up '“ not put it down!

It is OUR community.

Arun councillor for Littlehampton Ham ward
