Worth what life is worth

MESSRS Osborne, Barker, Maynard, Clubb and Ms Rudd find the fertile, biodiverse Combe Haven Valley 'empty land'. For the market values land only for 'regeneration, growth, houses, business, employment' and for Tarmac to accommodate roads and car parks for Mr Barker's 'electrification' cars. Rather wiser and earth literate is farmer Wendell Berry, who writes: 'Whatever the market may say, the worth of the land is what it always was. It is worth what food, clothing, shelter, and freedom are worth, it is worth what life is worth.'

Bexhill citizens can decide which of these two mindsets would best secure a future for our children.
