Pagham man's book being snapped up by teachers

Teachers are buying a Pagham man's book in their hundreds.

Some 700 copies of Roger Terry's guide about how they can communicate better have been sold.

The book's success has seen its publisher, Crown House Publishing, order a re-print less than a month after its publication.

Mr Terry has written NLP for Teachers: How to be a highly effective teacher with education consultant Richard Churches.

Pagham Beach estate resident Mr Terry is a master trainer in NLP '“ neuro-linguistic programming.

This is a powerful tool for developing communication skills and supporting personal and professional development.

It reveals how peoples' minds are 'programmed'.

Mr Terry (54) said: "NLP for teachers is a good thing. It allows them to communicate more effectively and helps them put their message across to their students.

"The book is not about how they teach things. It's about them and how they can get to the end of the week without being frazzled.

"The better they can communicate, the easier their job will be and the less stress they will suffer."

Mr Terry became aware of the benefits of NLP in the final years of his 22-year spell with Southern Water. He ended up running a bottled water subsidiary of the utility firm.

"NLP really helped me to manage people, understand how they work and to motivate them," he explained.
