Papers reveal story of brave stories

TWO damp and mouldy documents relating to parts palyed by 50 men from Tortington, near Arundel, during the First World War have been uncovered.

Frances Hurd of the Churches Conservation Trust discovered them when she was clearing out the vestry at St Mary Magdalene Church, which is one of seven churches in Sussex cared for by the trust.

They have been accepted as Tortington's warmemorial as there is no other and there will be a dedication on November 15 this year.
