Calling all young potential rock stars

AGED between ten and 18 and fancy becoming a rock star?

West Sussex Music Service’s (WSMS) Rock Academy Worthing Summer Rock Course is being held later this month.

The course runs from Monday July 25 until Wednesday July 27, (9.30am – 3.30pm on the first two days and 9.30am – 4.30pm on the Wednesday).

It’s aimed at 10-18 year olds who want to play in a band and takes place at Northbrook College, Broadwater site, in walking distance of Worthing station.

All rooms are equipped with amps, drums, keyboards, mikes and PAs.

The workshops include rock band sessions coached by professional musicians, and are for drummers, vocalists, pianists, bassists and guitarists. There will be a gig for family and friends to attend at the end of the course.

Any musical ability from one term’s experience to advanced is welcome. Drummers must be a minimum of grade 3.

It costs £80 for the three days.

On the first day, everyone will be put into bands, which will then discuss which songs they would like to learn and perform at the Wednesday concert. Bands are welcome to attend for coaching.

Applications must be in advance and the closing date to receive forms is July 19.
