Developers’ bid to build 48 homes

Proposals for 48 homes have been put forward for land on the Crawley/Horsham border near Broadfield.

Rural Eco Ltd & Hyde Housing Association have submitted a joint application to Horsham District Council for 23 flats and 25 houses on land south of Buchan Hill reservoir off Horsham Road, Pease Pottage.

The developers’ plans, which include 22 affordable homes, are for 22 one bedroom flats, one two-bedroom flat, seven two bedroom houses, 13 three-bedroom houses and five houses with four or more bedrooms.

Colgate Parish Council and Slaugham Parish Council have submitted objections to the plans for reasons including that the development would increase traffic on the busy Horsham Road, that the site lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and not near existing residential areas.

Crawley Borough Council has not submitted an objection, however, it echoed the parish councils’ concerns in its response to HDC.

In February 2013 an application for 52 homes was refused permission and also dismissed on appeal and in December 2013 an application for 50 homes was also refused.
