Fire service attend two acre blaze in Horsham woodland

The fire service is at the scene of a two acre blaze in Horsham woodland.

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said crews were called to the fire in woodland at St Leonard’s Forest near Springfield Lane at 12.14pm today.

He added: “Fire engines from Billingshurst, Crawley and Horsham fire stations were mobilised to the scene along with off-road vehicles from Crawley, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Horsham.

“The fire, which has now been sectorised and brought under control, is thought to affect around two acres of woodland.”

Firefighters remain at the scene and are damping down, according to the spokesman.

He said: “Any residents living nearby are advised to keep their windows and doors closed for the time being.”
