Fire service attends Cowfold blaze

A fire service spokesman confirmed it was called to reports of a fire at the unit at Oakendene Industrial Estate, Bolney Road, Cowfold at 5.55am this morning (April 28).

He added: “Firefighters from Partridge Green, Henfield and Horsham were mobilised to the scene and upon arrival found a fire involving machinery, equipment and sawdust well alight.

“Firefighters brought the fire under control using one high pressure hose and a hose reel jet, while using four sets of breathing apparatus.”

The spokesman said once the fire was extinguished, crews used a thermal imaging camera to identify any remaining hotspots.

He added: “The last appliance left the scene at 9.33am. Sussex Police have been informed.”
