Horsham family becomes TikTok famous after viral videos
A Horsham family has become TikTok famous after filming a series of viral life hacks.
The Gills, who live in the Littlehaven area, have racked up nearly one million likes and more than 28,000 followers in just a few months after launching their account during lockdown.
Mum Jo, 45, shares fun videos of the family’s home life featuring daughters Jade, 18, and Summer, ten.
The funny flicks also occasionally feature family pet Bobby the pomapoo.
She set the account up after Summer ‘literally begged’ her to use the platform.
Jo told the County Times it’s feels ‘strange’ to have become famous on the Chinese video-sharing network.
She said: “At the start my kids were doing it. And then all of a sudden bang – it went a bit crazy.
“It’s nice because it’s really good if I can be an influencer – and show people little hacks, give people inspiration.
“[Fans] are really sold on how I do things in my house.
“They all think that we’re a really nice family.”
The Gills’ videos follow the family as they installed a pool in their back garden and revealed innovative life hacks such as wearing shower caps over visitors’ shoes to stop dirty footprints going on the carpet.
They have built up a huge following.
Psychology student Jo said she hopes Summer can grow with TikTok.
She said: “She’s got such a natural humour. She has me in tears of laughter all the time.”
But Jo added that she’s careful to make sure TikTok doesn’t have a negative affect and that she would pull the plug on the account if necessary.
